I became a mom to seven beautiful puppies during my very first heat, and now that they’re starting to eat on their own, I’m getting ready to start the next chapter of my own story. My foster family has helped me learn so much in just a short time. I’ve mastered sitting and waiting politely for my food, and I’ve learned that I don’t need to jump up to get love (though I’ve got lots of it to give!). What I want most is to be close to my people—whether that’s curled up on your bed or sleeping quietly beside it. When I first arrived, I was scared and in survival mode. I didn’t know where I was or if I’d ever be safe again. I tried to escape, not because I was bad, but because I didn’t understand yet that I was finally somewhere safe. I pushed and chewed and climbed, but that was just my fear talking. Since then, I’ve started to relax. I’ve made doggy friends, started playing, and realized I don’t have to worry about where my next meal is coming from. I’m also a dream to walk on a leash, which makes exploring with you even more fun! I do need a home with a tall, secure fence—5 or 6 feet, please!—just to keep my curious feet grounded. I haven’t met any cats yet, but I’m great with kids, I get along with other dogs, and I absolutely adore people.
